You’d never eat 16 packs of sugar. Why would you drink 16 packs of sugar? There are 16 packs of sugar in one 20 oz. bottle of soda. All those extra calories can bring on obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Go with water, fat-free milk, seltzer or unsweetened tea instead. Visit us at facebook.com/EatingHealthyNYC

I did that when I was a kid actually … I used to like to play with packs of sugar at a restaurant, I would just put them in a bowl and play with it like sand. I was at a birthday party I think and some friends and I challenged each other to down a cup full of sugar, I think I ended up doing it.

Au contraire, I /would/ eat 16 packets of sugar, if my sweet tooth is bugging me . Sugar is sugar to me, whether it’s refined stuff in a packet, a can of soda or a confectionery treat.
Of course, I also drink plenty of water, exercise and all that, and any substantial amount of sugar is something rare for me. It’s when you’re downing 16 packets of sugar at once, several times a day/week that it’s a real problem.
But I get it, I guess… (maybe not)

What a terrible message. Get your facts straight. 20oz of skim milk has 8.5 packs of sugar in it, and your body metabolizes it the same way as table sugar. You wouldn’t eat 8 and a half packs of sugar either, would you?

@projekt84
Not quite. Milk contains lactose, a natural sugar. Table sugar is sucrose, which is an added, refined sugar.
They require different enzymes to be metabolized, and lactose is lower on the glycemic index. The sugar in soft drinks is used faster, not as efficiently, and more of it is stored as fat.

This is pretty great. However, your recommendation to consume low-fat milk is misguided. Multiple studies are bearing out the fact that dairy fat is healthy; grass-fed dairy even moreso.

Take one small step to save our health care system. Don’t drink soda.

Eating too much sugar can bring on Type 2 Diabetes, not Type 1 Diabetes ~ They should state this when mentioning ‘diabetes’.

Fluoride is a million times worse than sugar. Why don’t you focus on that and get out of our lives? I know because your all bought and paid for. Fluoride is banned in most European countries.

I guess they got tired of picking on the smokers. Time for the nanny state to invent a new bogeyman.
